Vice President of Huntsville Operations
Colonel Bill Marks recently retired from Active duty after honorably serving for 27 years as a leader in the United States Army. Mr. Marks provides oversight, leadership, and strategic focus to the execution and growth of Geocent’s Aerospace and Defense Engineering (ADE) Business Unit activities across the country and around the world.
Mr. Marks lived in Alabama from middle school through college after moving into the state from North Carolina. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps and detailed to the Infantry in 1990 following his graduation from the University of South Alabama (BS Finance). He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Ranger School, Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms & Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College and the Air War College. He has a Master's degree in Public Administration from Webster University in Saint Louis, MO and a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base.
Mr. Marks has served in key staff and leadership positions including Rifle Platoon Leader, Company Commander, Battalion Commander and most recently he served in a Brigade Level Command at Redstone Arsenal as the Garrison Commander. His assignment locations include Schofield Barracks Hawaii, Fort Lee, VA; several assignments at Fort Benning, GA; Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Camp Casey, South Korea; Suffolk, VA; FOB Warhorse, Iraq; FOB Kalsu, Iraq; Maxwell Air Force Base, AL; and Redstone Arsenal, AL.
His operational assignments include OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM III (2005-2006) serving as the Battalion Executive Officer of the 203rd Brigade Support Battalion 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team; 3rd Infantry Division; and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM VII (2009-2010) serving as the Commander of the same battalion.
Mr. Marks awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit; two Bronze Star Medals; the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; five Meritorious Service Medals; three Army Commendation Medals; the Joint Service Achievement Medal; three Army Achievement Medals; the Ranger Tab; Parachutist Badge; and the Air Assault Badge among others.
He has been a career long member of the Association of the United States Army; a member of the Downtown-Huntsville Rotary Club; The Huntsville Committee of 100; and serves on the Board of Directors of the Schools Foundation.
Mr. Marks has been married to the former Laurie T. Quick for over twenty wonderful years. They have two sons, William L. Marks, III and Jacob J. Marks.
